Automotive is several lead markets under one name, and each one sells and splits leads its own way.

The 55 automotive companies in our directory sell vehicle shipping leads to brokers, special finance and shopper leads to dealers, and warranty, insurance and glass leads to their own buyers. Shipping leads are split among a set number of brokers by package, while dealer leads are sold to one dealership.

In short

Know which automotive market you are in. Of the 55 automotive companies in our directory, 12 deal in vehicle shipping leads for auto transport brokers and carriers, 11 describe auto financing screens and 9 of those focus on subprime or special finance buyers. Smaller groups sell car shopper leads, extended warranty leads, auto insurance leads and auto glass jobs.

The split rules differ by market. Several vehicle shipping sellers sell the same quote request to a set number of brokers, in package tiers from shared to exclusive, and a few ask for the broker's motor carrier number before selling. Dealer leads go the other way: several sellers say each lead goes to one dealership and is never resold. Across the directory, 43 companies offer real-time leads, 36 exclusive leads, 19 live transfers and 19 inbound calls.

Juiced lets each buyer fund a wallet, set filters and caps on area and vehicle fields, and bid above your minimum so the highest bid wins the lead in seconds. Leads no buyer takes go to your own marketplace, where the price falls until someone buys. Delivery is by webhook into the buyer's CRM, email or text.

Counts cover everything each company says it sells, which can include other verticals.

Real-time and exclusive leads lead the table, but 15 companies sell shared leads and 7 semi-exclusive, many of them vehicle shipping sellers that sell each request to a capped number of brokers. Calls are a strong second track at 19 companies each for live transfers and inbound calls; Juiced distributes web leads, so calls need separate call tracking. Aged leads and data lists come from 11 companies each.

What automotive leads are screened for

What a buyer screens for depends on which automotive market the lead belongs to.

  • Vehicle and route for shipping. Shipping sellers capture the vehicle year, make and model, origin and destination, the ship date and whether the buyer wants open or enclosed transport, and buyers filter on vehicle type and lanes.
  • Income, job and credit for financing. Several special finance sellers screen on a minimum monthly income, time on the job, credit tier and bankruptcy status, one sells shoppers with a recent bankruptcy as a lead type of their own, and one excludes refinance requests from what it counts as a lead.
  • Proof that the buyer is real. A few auto finance and shopper sellers go further: credit bureau scoring, collecting proof of income, cross-checking bankruptcies against official records, or a vehicle builder that only allows real configurations.
  • Vehicle details for warranty. Warranty sellers capture year, make, model and mileage, and a few have agents confirm the owner's interest before a transfer.
  • A verified phone. 10 companies describe phone verification by text code, live call or call center, and one sells text-verified shipping leads as a paid upgrade.
  • In-market intent. Car shopper sellers score identity and purchase intent or confirm the shopper is actively looking for a vehicle, and one dealer return policy accepts leads where the consumer is not in market.

What an automotive lead has to carry

Area is the main filter, set by 28 of the 55 companies as a ZIP code, radius around a dealership, county, state, territory or shipping lanes. 11 let buyers filter on the vehicle itself, and several dealer and finance sellers add income or credit minimums.

Every lead type in Juiced starts with ten default fields. Add your own on top, and decide for each one whether it is required and whether the buyer receives it.

What you need to decide on a lead is not what you need to sell it

Every field carries four switches rather than one required flag.

Required for postMandatory when the lead is created: the full record you are selling.
Required for pingMandatory when checking which buyers want it. Usually a much shorter list.
DeliverableWhether the field is included in the data sent on to the buyer.
Hidden from API specKept off the public specification page.

Ping with zip, state, vehicle_interest, vehicle_status, vehicle_year, vehicle_make, vehicle_model and mileage. That tells a buyer whether the lead is in area and the vehicle they want, without exposing contact details before the bid.

Vehicle shipping: one request, a set number of brokers

The largest single group here is vehicle shipping. 12 companies deal in auto transport quote requests, and several of them sell the same request to a capped number of brokers, priced in package tiers that run from widely shared to exclusive to one broker. Buyers commonly buy weekly or monthly packages rather than single leads, a few sellers require a valid motor carrier number at signup, and one sells only to registered brokers for live transfers.

Because shared packages are the model, a few sellers police resale: one tests clients for sharing or reselling, one tracks each lead from quote to sale, and one ends service if a broker redistributes leads. If you sell shipping leads, state the cap on how many brokers receive each request and keep it consistent. A couple of sellers here state different caps on different pages, which leaves brokers unsure what they bought.

Dealer leads: exclusive, special finance and returnable for fit

Dealer markets run the other way. Several sellers of finance and shopper leads say each lead goes to one dealership and is never resold, and buyers set territory as a radius around the store, a DMA or a list of ZIP codes. The special finance sellers are the most specific screeners in the vertical, with income minimums, job time, credit tier and bankruptcy status, and one lets dealers return leads in their dealer management system.

Return rules match those screens. One seller credits returns for an unreachable applicant, a refinance request, a vehicle that is not a car, truck or SUV, or income below the agreed minimum. Another runs a bulk return tool that accepts duplicates, minors, bad contact details and consumers not in market. If you sell to dealers, write those reasons into your policy before the first lead, because they are what dealers will expect.

How buyers pay and start

Packages and prepayment are common. 9 companies describe a prepaid or funded account, 5 keep a card on file and 4 mention invoicing, while subscription or monthly fee pricing appears at 7. One requires an initial deposit that sets the buyer's spending limit, one does not take cards from new clients at first, and one says unused credits expire. 23 say no long-term contract.

Starting is often self-serve: 12 describe a self-serve signup or package purchase, and several offer a pilot, a trial or a sample. Kyle's rule is to skip the free trial. Ask every buyer, whether broker or dealer, to fund a balance before the first lead, with no promised volume by a date and no invoices. In Juiced the buyer funds a wallet and is charged as each lead is delivered.

Bidding, the supply side and the gaps between pages

Several companies here price by competition: a real-time auction that picks the format and the highest-bidding business, a scoring and bidding platform for shopper leads, a shipping seller whose suggested bids move with the market, and call marketplaces where local competition sets the price. 21 companies buy from publishers or affiliates. One auto finance program pays per valid loan lead, and one marketplace lets sellers set their own price and pays only on leads that sell. Several bar incentivized traffic or limit affiliates to approved creative on their own sites.

The terms do not always match the marketing. A couple of sellers state different broker caps in different places, one homepage says no one else receives your leads while its pricing page sells exclusivity as an add-on, and one homepage promises refunds that its terms rule out. A couple of consumer forms say consent covers calls even when the number is on a do-not-call list. Read the agreement, not the homepage. The rules themselves are published by the FCC and FTC.

  • Keep a source sub ID on every lead so a buyer's complaint traces to one campaign.
  • Write the split rule, how many buyers receive each lead, in the same words everywhere.
  • In Juiced, approved returns are credited back to the buyer's wallet.

How Juiced runs an automotive lead business

  1. Buyers fund a wallet

Each buyer adds funds before leads arrive and is charged as each lead is delivered. Approved returns are credited back to the wallet. No invoices to send and no payments to chase.

  2. Buyers set filters and caps, then bid

Each buyer filters on your fields and caps how many leads they take. They bid above your minimum, and the highest bid wins the lead in seconds.

  3. Delivery goes where the buyer works

By webhook into the buyer’s CRM, by email or by text.

  4. Unsold leads go to your marketplace

A lead no buyer takes is not dropped. It goes to your own marketplace, where its price falls until someone buys it outright or a standing buy order picks it up.

Frequently asked

What kinds of automotive leads are sold?

Several distinct ones. In our directory of 55 automotive companies, 12 deal in vehicle shipping leads for auto transport brokers, 11 describe auto financing screens, and smaller groups sell car shopper, extended warranty, auto insurance and auto glass leads.

Are auto transport leads shared?

Often. Several shipping sellers sell each quote request to a capped number of brokers in package tiers, with an exclusive one-broker tier at the top. State your cap clearly, since a couple of sellers here contradict themselves on it.

Are dealer leads exclusive?

Usually. Several sellers of finance and shopper leads say each lead goes to one dealership and is never resold, and dealers set territory by radius, DMA or ZIP code.

What do special finance lead sellers screen for?

Minimum monthly income, time on the job, credit tier and bankruptcy status, either excluding recent bankruptcies or selling them as their own lead type. One counts refinance requests and vehicles other than cars, trucks and SUVs as returnable.

Do automotive sellers sell calls?

Yes. 19 companies sell live transfers and 19 sell inbound calls. Juiced distributes web leads, so calls need separate call tracking.

Do automotive buyers bid on leads?

Some do. Several companies here run auctions or let local competition set the price. In Juiced, buyers bid above your minimum and the highest bid wins the lead in seconds.

What do automotive leads sell for?

No prices are published here. Sellers rarely publish them, and what an automotive lead sells for depends on whether it is exclusive or shared, a web lead or a call, the geography, how fresh it is and how many buyers want it. The pay-per-lead pricing guide shows how to work out your own floor from cost and let buyers bid above it.

Does Juiced handle automotive calls or live transfers?

No. Juiced distributes web leads and delivers them by webhook, email or text. It does not track or route phone calls, so if calls are part of your product you need call tracking software for that side.
